Breeding Pays Futurity Class Specs

2022 BREEDING PAYS FUTURITY BULLET POINTS

  • INAUGURAL U.S. NATIONAL SHOW 2022

Our debut at the Nationals exceeded all expectations, and our first year Breeding Pays had two of the three largest halter classes at the show.

  • PURPOSE

The goal of Breeding Pays was to create the largest payout ever at the U.S. Nationals ($260,000) and accomplish (3) things:

~ Reward the Breeders

~ Drive Horse Sales

~ Drive Breeding Sales

We believe we laid the groundwork to achieve these goals.

  • AMATEUR SUCCESS

The inclusion of Amateurs into the Breeding Pays classes was a great success.

Each class had (3) Amateurs place in the top 12. The Bronze Champion Filly was presented by Janene Boggs, winning the Bronze Champion prize money and the top Amateur prize money.

  • SUSTAINABILITY

~ A top priority of Breeding Pays is to establish a futurity that is self-funding.

~ The initial money came through Founding Members

~ Going forward, Breeding Pays will require the entries to be by a nominated Stallion or out of a nominated mare.

~ Starting next year, to be eligible to enter the Breeding Pays classes, horses must be sired or out of a nominated stallion or mare.

  • STALLION & MARE NOMINATIONS

Nominations for 2023 are due by 3/1/2023

If neither the Mare or Stallion is not nominated, the resulting foals cannot show in this class.

Breeding Pays’ goal is to develop a long-term self-funding program.

It was decided that the traditional stallion auction method of funding is getting unpopular, and we also want to get away from in-utero nominations.

Therefore, the funding for Breeding pays comes from nominating stallion and mare and retaining their foal eligibility in the program over their lifetime

Non Founding Member:

~ Breeding Pays: Stallion Nomination Fee of $10,000 one time, lifetime annual retaining fee $2,500 versus a standard Breeding Auction: donate every year (most often buying your own breeding back to protect the price)

Breeding Pays Mare Nomination:

~ Breeding Pays recognizes the breeders that don’t own a stallion but own special mares. This allows them access to our program. Mare nomination $5,000.00 and maintenance annual fee of $1,500.00

2023 provides a unique opportunity for breeders to nominate their mares and stallions and have foals from 4 birth years included with no retro fees required.  See below advantages:
